BETHLEHEM, PA. – Two Cortland relays won titles and two Red Dragon individuals were runners-up to help the Red Dragons finish fourth out of 56 scoring schools at the ECAC Div. III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Moravian College.
Cortland finished the two-day meet with 42 points. Ithaca won the title with 80.5 points, followed by MIT (77.5), Tufts (54), Cortland and Williams (36) in the top five.

Abby Vander Veen (Delanson/Faith Bible Academy) won with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:54.55. The 4x100-meter relay unit of freshman
Tara Kickel (West Islip), Evarts, junior
Veronica Montrose (Clintondale/Highland) and freshman
Sarah Bonnell (Norwich) finished first in 48.76 seconds.
Graduate student
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) cleared an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 1.68 meters (5' 6”) to finish second in the high jump. She was actually one of three people tied with the best height in the event, but placed second due to number of misses. Sophomore
Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) finished second in the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 4,229 points.
Also scoring at the meet with top-eight finishes were sophomore
Jess Andrianos (Syracuse/West Genesee) with a fifth-place showing in the discus (38.26 meters – 125' 6”), freshman
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) with an eighth-place effort in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:37.25) and sophomore
Amber Stephens (Stony Point/North Rockland) with an eighth-place triple jump (11.09 meters – 36' 4.75”).
All top-eight finishers at the meet are recognized as All-ECAC performers.
Cortland will complete its season May 26-28 at the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. The final qualifier list for nationals will be announced earlier that week.
