BETHLEHEM, PA. – The Cortland women's cross country team finished sixth out of 44 schools and was the second best Division III school in the Brown Division of Lehigh University's Paul Short Run. Iona College won the race with 125 points, followed by the University of Tampa (150), Marist and Rowan (158 each), Holy Cross (195) and Cortland (288). Cortland finished ahead of 14 Division I schools in the field.
Senior
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) finished in fifth place at the race for the second straight year. Her time of 21:57 over 6,000 meters is three seconds faster than her time a year ago. A total of 386 runners competed this fall.
Dalton was 17 seconds behind individual champion Vanessa Wright of Rowan and six seconds off the time of the fourth place runner.
Two other Red Dragons earned top-35 finishes. Freshman
Bori Tozser (Homer) was 25th in 22:52 and sophomore
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) finished 32nd in 23:04.
Junior
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) crossed the finish line 104th in 23:59 and sophomore
Colleen Fischman (Orchard Park/Hamburg) placed 122nd in 24:06. Senior
Hannah Hoffman (Rome/Rome Free Academy) turned in a time of 24:36 to finish 190th, sophomore
Dayna Eikeseth (Staten Island/Tottenville) was 214th in 24:43 and freshman
Sylvia Hahn Berman (Loudonville/Shaker) finished 235th in 24:57.
In the 6,000-meter collegiate open race, freshman
Jenna Fallon (Waterville) was Cortland's top finisher in 122nd place out of 341 runners in 24:48.
