Cortland Women Sail Past Oswego, 150-64, in Home Finale

Michaela Auer won the 50-yard freestyle and finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team defeated visiting Oswego, 150-64, in the Red Dragons' final home dual meet of the season. Cortland improves to 9-2 with the victory.

Sophomores Chrisanna Hickey (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East Fishkill) and Sarah Culmo (West Islip) each won two events. Culmo captured the 100-yard freestyle (55.24) and 200-yard freestyle (2:03.21) and Hickey won the 100-yard butterfly (59.82) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.43).

Junior Jessica Evans (Hamburg) touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.98) and was second in the 100-yard freestyle (55.71). Junior Abigail MacDonald (East Amherst/Williamsville North) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.06) and was the runner-up in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:33.66).

Freshman Krista Caputo (Staten Island/Curtis) easily won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:06.28. Freshman Michaela Auer (Oswego) won the 50-yard freestyle (25.73) and finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.71). Sophomore Lindsay Wigderson (Webster/Webster Thomas) posted the highest score in one-meter diving with 221.80 points as an exhibition entry.

Cortland took the top two spots in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Senior Michelle Seeger (Oneonta), sophomore M.K. Dugue (Binghamton/Chenango Forks), Caputo and Evans won the race in 3:47.88. Junior Katherine Harris (Long Beach), sophomore Caitlin Lanigan (West Seneca/West Seneca West), freshman Lauren Kaplowitz (Stamford, CT/West Hills) and junior Molly Miller (Eden) finished second in 3:53.51. Cortland also won the 400-yard medley relay, but the results from that race are currently not available.

Junior Kelsey Roe (Auburn) finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.32) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.35). Dugue placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.09), Harris was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.31) and Miller was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.11).
