NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior
Chrisanna Hickey (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East Fishkill) won two events in Cortland's season-opening 173-123 women's swimming and diving dual-meet loss at New York University. Hickey won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:18.85 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:36.58.
Six Red Dragons posted individual runner-up finishes. Sophomore
Krista Caputo (Staten Island/Curtis) finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:15.08) and senior
Abigail MacDonald (East Amherst/Williamsville North) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.22). Freshman
Emilee Gottlieb (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.03) and junior
Sarah Culmo (West Islip) touched the wall second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.47).
Senior
Jessica Evans (Hamburg) finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.17) and freshman
Miranda Fergus (Pleasant Valley/Millbrook) was second in three-meter diving (242.03 pts.).
The combination of MacDonald, Gottlieb, Hickey and Culmo finished second in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:55.02. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Evans, junior
M.K. Dugue (Binghamton/Chenango Forks), Caputo and Culmo posted the second-best time of 3:49.85.
Cortland will host Ithaca in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.
