EWING, N.J. – Four different players scored goals as the nationally 10th-ranked The College of New Jersey field hockey team rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Cortland, 4-3, in the regular-season finale for both teams Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons fell to 8-7 on the season, while the Lions improved to 15-4.

Karly Vdoviak (Johnstown) led Cortland with a goal and an assist. Senior
Erin Carrino (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and junior
Erin Smith (Greene) each tallied a goal. Sophomore goalie
Amanda Perricone (Bedminster, PA/Pennridge) registered six saves.
Jordan Calderone and Caitlyn Jenkins recorded a goal and an assist for The College of New Jersey. Camille Passucci and Christy Wham each added a goal and Jillian Nealon picked up an assist. Goalie Roisin Dougherty made six saves.
Greene gave the Red Dragons the lead just 23 seconds into the game with her team-high 12th goal of the season shortly after the opening faceoff. Vdoviak then set up Carrino's seventh score of the season at seven minutes, 35 seconds. The Lions evened the game up with Passucci's goal at 26:51 and Wham's score 38 seconds before the half.
Calderone gave the Lions their first lead 3:21 into the second half when she scored on a loose ball in front. Jenkins made it a 4-2 game at 48:18. Vdoviak pulled Cortland to within 4-3 on an unassisted goal from close range with 55 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Red Dragons could not get another shot off and the Lions held on for the win.
Cortland travels to New Paltz for a SUNYAC Semifinal game versus Geneseo on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
