CANTON, N.Y. - The nationally 16th-ranked Cortland men's cross country team took the top three individual places and the Red Dragons finished first out of nine teams at the St. Lawrence Hoffman Invitational.
The Red Dragons posted a score of 26 points. St. Lawrence was second with 49 and the Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club was third with 90 points.
Senior
Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) won the 8,000-meter race in 25:55.86. Junior
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) was second in 25:59.02, just ahead of third-place sophomore
Nick Marcantonio's (Glens Falls) time of 25:59.80.
Cortland's next four finishers all placed in the top 15. Junior
Tim Lee (West Babylon) was eighth (26:40.36), junior
Brian Hotchkiss (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) finished 12th (26:52.43), senior
Brent Pavlick (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) was 14th (26:57.72) and junior
Casey Austin (Pine Plains) finished 15th (26:58.40). In all, 112 runners competed.
