CORTLAND, N.Y. - Junior goalie Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Atlanta Jr. Knights) made 30 saves as the Buffalo St. men's hockey team skated past Cortland, 3-0, Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons fell to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference with the setback. The Bengals improved to 3-5-1 and 2-4-1.

Junior Geoff Sadjadi (Faribault, MN/St. Thomas) started in goal for Cortland, making nine saves and allowing all three Buffalo St. goals in 24 minutes, 36 seconds of action. Junior Lyle Rocker (Buffalo/Wisconsin-River Falls) came off the bench to stop all 17 shots he faced in 35:24.

Seniors Mike Connolly (Shoreham/Hartford Jr. Wolfpack) and Kyle Whipple (Tonawanda/Binghamton Jr. Senators) and junior Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Peterborough Liftlock Stars) each scored a goal for the Bengals. Juniors Shane Avery (Fort Covington/Cornwall Colts) and Billy Strakosch (Middlebury, CT/Hartford Jr. Wolfpack) and freshman Ben Kramer (Great Neck/Springfield Jr. Blues) recorded one assist apiece.

Connolly scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 4:48 of the first period when he knocked a rebound past Sadjadi in front. McKinney made it a 2-0 game at 4:01 of the second with a wrist shot from the high slot through traffic. Whipple then chased Sadjadi when he scored from a sharp angle on the left side on the power play just 35 seconds later. The Bengals had six straight power-play chances over the remainder of the game, including 1:53 of a two-man advantage, but could not get a puck past Rocker.
