Nick Marcantonio finished 23rd out of 280 runners to earn All-America recognition
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Cortland sophomore
Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) earned All-America honors with a 23rd-place national finish at the NCAA Div. III Men's Cross Country Championships. The meet was hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at the LaVerne Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
Cortland finished in 23rd place out of 32 schools in the final team standings with 546 points, six behind last week's Atlantic Region champion NYU. North Central College of Illinois repeated as national champion with 167 points, followed by Calvin College and Haverford College tied for second with 188 points each.
Marcantonio completed the 8,000-meter course in 24:58.7. Tim Nelson of Wisconsin-Stout won the race in 24:26.8. The top 35 finishers in the 280-runner field were recognized as All-Americans.
Senior
Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished 132nd in 25:53.7 and junior
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) was 151st in 26:02.9. Also competing for Cortland were sophomore
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) in 182nd place (26:15.2), senior
Brent Pavlick (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) in 245th place (26:55.0) and junior
Tim Lee (West Babylon) in 262nd place (27:26.9).
