Hannah Anthes was one of four Cortland sprinters to post an ECAC qualifying time in the 200-meter dash
BOSTON, MASS. – Cortland registered ECAC-qualifying performances in 12 individual events and three relays at the Boston University Valentine's Invitational. The Red Dragons competed against numerous schools, many of which are Division I, at the meet.
Sophomore
Sarah Bonnell (Norwich) was an ECAC qualifier with both her 20th-place time of 8.01 seconds, out of 91 entries, in the 60-meter dash and her 46th-place time of 26.15 seconds in a field of 168 sprinters in the 200-meter dash. Freshman
Shay Walker (Harriman/Monroe-Woodbury) hit an ECAC mark with her 41st-place time of 26.04 seconds in the 200-meter dash. She missed the ECAC standard by six hundredths of a second in the 60-meter dash, placing 35th in 8.16 seconds.
Two other Red Dragons hit ECAC marks in the 200-meter dash. Senior
Jenna Evarts (West Islip) finished 58th in 26.39 seconds and freshman
Hannah Anthes (Liverpool) was 84th in 26.87 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, three Cortland sprinters qualified for ECACs. Senior
Veronica Montrose (Clintondale/Highland) was 65th out of 139 runners in 59.97 seconds. Sophomore
Trisha Clark (Pulaski) placed 75th (1:00.46) and senior
Abby Vander Veen (Duanesburg/Faith Bible Academy) was 76th (1:00.48).
Junior
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) finished 26th out of 144 entries in the mile run in 4:58.00 and freshman
Bori Tozser (Homer) placed 74th in 5:13.13, both ECAC times. Other individual ECAC qualifiers were sophomore
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) in the 3,000 meters (66th, 10:42.27) and senior
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) in the 5,000 meters (12th, 17:11.02).
Two different Cortland 4x400-meter relay teams each qualified for ECACs. Vander Veen, Montrose, sophomore
Cait Reilly (Warwick/Monroe-Woodbury) and junior
Alexis Grable (Pine Bush) finished 15th in 4:00.87, while Clark, junior
Liz Henry (Massapequa Park/Massapequa), junior
Caitlin Triantafillou (Getzville/Williamsville North) and freshman
Kiki Jones (Binghamton) placed 17th in 4:02.79. Cortland's distance medley relay team of Tozser, Montrose, Reilly and Naylon finished 11th with an ECAC time of 12:09.02.
