Pentathletes Lead Cortland's Performances at Cornell Kane Invitational

Kelsie Foster placed in the top half of the field in the 800-meter run in 2:33.75
ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Taylor Hudson (Victor) and junior Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) finished in the top half of the standings in the pentathlon and sophomore Lexi Budd (Riverhead) posted an ECAC-qualifying performance in the high jump to lead Cortland's performances at the Cornell University Kane Invitational.

Hudson finished sixth in a field of 18 athletes with her pentathlon score of 2,995 points. Her best event was the high jump, where she cleared an ECAC-qualifying 1.63 meters (5' 4.25”). Schafer finished seventh with 2,988 points, with her highest-scoring event the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.71 seconds.

Budd tied for 10th place out of 27 entries in the high jump at 1.60 meters (5' 3”). Other notable performances included a 21st-place showing out of 51 in the long jump for junior Alana Hotchkiss (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) at 4.66 meters (15' 3.5”), junior Kelsie Foster's (Elmira/Notre Dame) 23rd-place finish out of 52 in the 800 meters (2:33.75) and junior Chelsea Lachman's (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) 11th-place effort in the shot put (10.96 meters – 35' 11.5”).
