CORTLAND, N.Y. - Freshman Zachary Blake (Campbellford, ON/Wellington Dukes) scored his first career goal four minutes, four seconds into overtime to lift the nationally fourth-ranked Plattsburgh men's hockey team to a 3-2 win Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena.

Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) turned aside 49 shots on "Saves for a Cure" night in which each save raised money to benefit children and their battle against cancer.
Blake added an assist for Plattsburgh (17-4-4, 12-3-1 SUNYAC) and senior Vick Schlueter (Palmerston, ON/Kingston Voyageurs) also recorded a goal and an assist. Freshman Mark Constantine (Haddonfield, NJ/The Hill School) tallied a goal, and senior Kyle Kudroch (Cottam, ON/Leamington Flyers), junior Jared Docking (Toronto, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadians) and sophomores Barry Roytman (Staten Island/Kanata Stallions) and Nick Jensen (Helsingborg, Sweden/Bismarck Bobcats) chipped in with one assist apiece. Sophomore goalie Mathieu Cadieux (Oshawa, ON/Cobourg Cougars) made 27 saves.
Zappia gave the Red Dragons the lead just 1:27 into the game with his 11th goal of the season. After Cadieux stopped Bevilacqua's shot from the right side on the rush, Zappia cleaned up the rebound in the slot. Reilly was able to keep Plattsburgh off the scoreboard with 19 saves as the Cardinals had three power-play chances, including 1:25 of a two-man advantage.
Plattsburgh grabbed a 2-1 lead after two periods as Constantine and Schlueter scored 3:28 apart. At 3:00, Constantine deflected Roytman's shot from the point past Reilly. Schlueter then snapped a shot from the slot that clanged off the crossbar and in the goal at 6:28.
The Red Dragons forced overtime when Lysyj put a shot from in front into the lower left corner of the goal at 12:36. Plattsburgh was awarded a power play with just over five and a half minutes remaining in regulation, but the Red Dragons kept the Cardinals from scoring to send the game into overtime. Plattsburgh finished 0-for-6 on the power play, while Cortland was 0-for-2. In the extra session, the Cardinals out shot Cortland, 5-1, and earned the win when Blake found the top left corner with a shot from the slot after Plattsburgh won a faceoff in its offensive zone.
Following the game, Cortland's 10 seniors were honored.
