Culmo 40th in 50-yd Freestyle at Day 1 of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – SUNY Cortland sophomore Sarah Culmo (West Islip) finished in 40th place in the 50-yard freestyle during Day 1 of the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day meet is being held at the IU Natatorium at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Culmo finished the 50-yard freestyle in 24.23 seconds in the preliminaries and did not advance to the championship or consolation finals in the event.

In addition, Cortland's 200-yard medley relay of Culmo, sophomore M.K. Dugue (Binghamton/Chenango Forks), junior Jessica Evans (Hamburg) and senior Michelle Seeger (Oneonta) competed in the preliminaries but was disqualified.

Cortland's relay quartet is scheduled to compete three more times – in the 200-yard freestyle relay Thursday, the 800-yard freestyle relay Friday and the 400-yard freestyle relay Saturday. Also, Culmo is expected to swim in the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday.
