Cortland Women Hit Three ECAC Standards at Ithaca Invitational

Chelsea Lachman placed fourth in the shot put and eighth in the javelin
ITHACA, N.Y. – Three Red Dragons earned spots in the ECAC Div. III Championships with their showings at the season-opening Ithaca College Women's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational.

Freshman Bori Tozser (Homer) finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in an ECAC time of 11:21.25. Freshman Valerie Vancol (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) placed second in the discus with an ECAC distance of 36.36 meters (119' 3.5”) and junior Chelsea Lachman (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) met the ECAC standard with her fourth-place shot put of 11.63 meters (38' 2”).

Vancol also finished sixth in the shot put at 11.13 meters (36' 6.25”) and Lachman was eighth in the javelin at 24.84 meters (81' 6”). Junior Jess Andrianos (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished third in the discus with a distance of 34.73 meters (113' 11.5”).

Sophomore Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) and sophomore Colleen Fischman (Orchard Park/Hamburg) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5,000 meters. Cotey finished in 18:48.12 and Fischman crossed the finish line narrowly behind her in 18:48.85. Freshman Heather Eriksson (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.47 seconds, with sophomore Lisa Bodratti (Valatie/Ichabod Crane) seventh in 17.59 seconds (17.51 in prelims).

Freshman Hannah Anthes (Liverpool) and freshman Ashley Martin (Groton) each qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash. Anthes finished seventh in 13.68 seconds (13.65 in prelims) and Martin was 12th in 14.61 seconds (13.98 in prelims). Martin also finished second in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.89 and junior Alexis Fairbanks (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy) was 19th out of 42 competitors in the 1,500 meters (5:06.11).
