Five Cortland Men Post ECAC Qualifying Times at Bucknell Meet

Cody Amengual's 3,000-meter steeplechase time of 9:04.83 is currently ranked second nationally in Division III
LEWISBURG, PA.–  Cortland sophomore Cody Amengual (West Babylon) turned in one of the top Division III times nationally this spring in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Red Dragons competed at Bucknell University's Bison Men's Track and Field Outdoor Classic.

Amengual finished third out of 42 competitors in 9:04.83, just behind second-place Bobby Over of Allegheny College (9:03.82). Over and Amengual currently rank first and second nationally in Division III in the event with their times.

Three Red Dragons qualified for the ECAC Div. III Championships in the steeplechase. In addition to Amengual, junior Joe Blazey (Newark Valley) finished 19th in 9:28.40 and freshman Joe Ray (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) was 28th in 9:37.58.

Also qualifying for ECACs were junior Pat Fannon (West Islip) in the 5,000 meters and junior Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) in the 10,000 meters. Fannon finished 41st out of 124 runners in the 5,000 meters in 15:03.40 and Hopkins was 16th of 63 in the 10,000 meters in 31:00.51.
