CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's outdoor track and field team posted numerous top-three finishes at the Cortland Classic, hosted by the Red Dragons Friday and Saturday.
Senior
Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) won the 400-meter hurdles (54.20), senior
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) was the pole vault winner (4.87 meters – 15' 11.75”), senior
Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) won the long jump (7.09 meters – 23' 3.25”) and junior
Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) won the shot put (15.06 meters – 49' 5”), all with ECAC Championship qualifying performances.
Also victorious were junior
Eric Banks (Westbury) in the 400-meter dash (50.15) and junior
Mike Ofosu (Accra. Ghana/Shaker (NY)) in the triple jump (12.84 meters – 42' 1.5”). Junior
Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) was second overall and the top collegiate finisher in the javelin with a throw of 51.29 meters (168' 3”). Wilson and sophomore
Tyler Prendergast (Waterford/Shenendehowa) each posted ECAC qualifying marks in the hammer throw. Prendergast finished third at 49.92 meters (163' 9”) and Wilson was fifth at 48.47 meters (159' 0”).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Banks, Wiltshire, freshman
Neil Yodice (Northport) and sophomore
Stephan Linton (Roosevelt) finished second with an ECAC time of 3:16.10. The performance is currently 15th on the national Division III qualifier list. Cortland's other ECAC qualifiers were senior
Ken Bucaro (Tully) and freshman
Connor Ten Eyck (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) in the pole vault and freshman
Nick Avossa (Kingston) in the 110-meter hurdles. Bucaro and Ten Eyck each cleared 4.52 meters (14' 10”) in the pole vault – Bucaro officially finished fifth and Ten Eyck was sixth. Avossa posted a preliminary time of 15.50 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. He finished fifth in the finals in 16.35 seconds.
Linton placed second in the 400-meter dash (50.41) and third in the 200-meter dash (22.92). Junior
Steven Damiani (West Islip) finished third in the 100-meter dash (11.60, 11.28 in prelims) and freshman
Zach Zieniewicz (Seaford) was third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.16).
Freshman
Rob Schenke (Kings Park) finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (56.68) and Yodice turned in a sixth-place time of 51.24 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
Cortland recorded three top-eight finishes in the long jump and shot put. In addition to Razzano's long jump victory, freshman
Jon Granger (Ticonderoga) finished fourth (6.57 meters – 21' 6.75”) and junior
Erik LeRoy (Kings Park) was fifth (6.55 meters – 21' 6”). Joining first-place shot putter Torres were sophomore
Jared Thomson (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) in seventh place (12.94 meters – 42' 5.5”) and Prendergast in eighth place (12.93 meters – 42' 5.25”). Prendergast also finished eighth in the discus (39.11 meters – 128' 4”).
Sophomore
Casey Austin (Pine Plains) and senior
Garrett Parker (Whitesboro) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 10,000 meters. Austin was clocked in 34:22.51 and Parker in 35:50.96. In the 5,000-meter run, junior
Pat Fannon (West Islip) placed fourth (15:27.72) and sophomore
Brian Hotchkiss (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) was seventh (15:45.83).
A pair of Cortland relay teams earned third-place finishes. The 4x100-meter relay team of senior

Amos Webb (Mexico) and Damiani finished in 43.77 seconds. The 4x800-meter relay of freshman
Jared Walther (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse), freshman
Tim Odin (Northport), junior
Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) and sophomore
Mike Kelly (Coram/Longwood) posted a time of 8:10.12.
In addition, Torres finished sixth in the hammer throw at 47.16 meters (154' 9”) and Webb was seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.13).
