Three Cortland Men Post ECAC Performances at Cornell Invitational

Steven Damiani finished seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.20 seconds
ITHACA, N.Y. – Seniors Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) and Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) each won events and were two of three Cortland ECAC Championship qualifiers at the Cornell University Big Red Outdoor Men's Track and Field Invitational.

Wiltshire placed first out of 20 entries in the 400-meter hurdles in 53.93 seconds. The time is currently ranked 18th in the Div. III national rankings. Razzano's winning triple jump of 14.69 meters (48' 2.5”) is eighth on the national ranking list to date.

Junior Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) also hit an ECAC qualifying mark with his fourth-place distance of 14.57 meters (47' 9.75”) in the shot put. In addition, he placed sixth in the discus at 41.01 meters (134' 6”).

Sophomore Tyler Prendergast (Waterford/Shenendehowa) earned three top-10 finishes. He was fourth of 23 in the hammer throw (46.00 meters – 150' 11”), seventh in the javelin (46.37 meters – 152' 1”) and ninth in the shot put (13.53 meters – 44' 4.75”). Sophomore Cody Amengual (West Babylon) was fourth in the 800 meters (1:56.01) and sixth in the 1,500 meters (4:02.71), while junior Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) placed third in the javelin (47.37 meters – 152' 1”) and 10th in the hammer (42.54 meters – 139' 7”).

Sophomore Tom Calandra (Williamsville/Williamsville North) cleared 4.20 meters (13' 9.25”) to finish fifth in the pole vault. Junior Steven Damiani (West Islip) was seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.20) and freshman Jared Walther (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) finished eighth in the 800 meters (1:58.32).

Other top Cortland performances included freshman Rob Schenke (Kings Park) with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (57.47) and sophomore Jared Thomson (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) with an eighth-place distance of 13.81 meters (45' 3.75”) in the shot put.
