Phill Wiltshire finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles and ran a leg on the Red Dragons' fourth-place 4x400-meter relay team
PRINCETON, N.J. – Five individuals and one relay posted ECAC qualifying marks as Cortland competed at the Sam Howell Invitational, hosted by Princeton University.
The 4x400-meter relay of junior
Eric Banks (Westbury), senior
Phill Wiltshire (Vestal), freshman
Neil Yodice (Northport) and sophomore
Stephan Linton (Roosevelt) finished fourth with an ECAC time of 3:23.35. Wiltshire also qualified individually for ECACs in the 400-meter hurdles with a seventh-place time of 54.72 seconds.
Sophomore
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) recorded ECAC qualifying times in two races. He was 22nd of 65 competitors in the 800 meters in 1:54.38 and was 46th of 62 in the Elite 1,500 meters in 3:59.59, just one hundredth of a second faster than the ECAC standard.
Junior
Pat Fannon (West Islip) placed fifth in the open division of the 1,500 meters with an ECAC time of 3:59.22 and junior
Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished 45th in the Elite 5,000 meters in 15:07.71, also an ECAC qualifier.
Yodice and Linton placed in the top half of the field in the 400-meter dash but just missed ECAC status. Yodice was 14th of 36 entrants in 50.19 seconds, less than a tenth of a second from the ECAC standard, while Linton was 16th in 50.26 seconds.
