MEADVILLE, PA. – Cortland finished second in two relays and in the top five in six other events as the Red Dragons sent a handful of athletes to the Allegheny College Gator Invitational women's track and field meet. The Red Dragons were tuning up for their final two meets of the season – the ECAC Div. III Championships May 17-18 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and the NCAA Div. III Championships May 24-26 in Claremont, Calif.

Kiki Jones (Binghamton) and sophomore
Sarah Bonnell (Norwich) finished second in the 4x100-meter relay in 48.06 seconds. Montrose, junior

Abby Vander Veen (Duanesburg/Faith Bible Academy) placed second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:52.98.
Bonnell turned in two top-four individual finishes. She was third in the long jump at 5.49 meters (18' 0.25”) and fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.44 seconds (12.38 in prelims). Junior
Amber Stephens (Stony Point/North Rockland) finished third in the triple jump at 11.19 meters (36' 8.5”) and sophomore Lexi Budd (Riverhead) was fourth in the high jump at 1.58 meters (5' 2.25”).
Freshman
Taylor Hudson (Victor) finished fifth in both the 200-meter dash (26.43) and the long Jump (5.36 meters – 17' 7”) and tied for ninth in the high jump (1.55 meters – 5' 1”). Sophomore
Kelly Hugo (Highland) placed fifth in the pole vault by clearing 3.55 meters (11' 7.75”) and was seventh in the long jump at 5.04 meters (16' 6.5”). Hugo's pole vault was actually tied for the third-best effort, but she was officially fifth due to number of misses.
Junior
Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) ended seventh in the high jump (1.58 meters – 5' 2.25”) and eighth in the long jump (4.95 meters – 16' 3”). She was third in the 100-meter hurdles prelims in 15.06 seconds, but false started in the finals.
Also for the Red Dragons, freshman
Erica Wharton (Putnam Valley) placed ninth in the long jump (4.89 meters – 16' 0.5”) and junior
Christi Nassauer (Mount Sinai) was 15th in the pole vault (3.10 meters – 10' 2”).
