Cotey-Naylon 1-2 Finish Propels Red Dragons to Hamilton Invite Title

Emily Cotey posted a winning time of 15:04.2 over 4,000 meters
CLINTON, N.Y. – Junior Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) and senior Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) earned the top two individual places to help Cortland win the team title at the three-team Hamilton College Women's Cross Country Short Course Invitational.

Cotey won the 4,000-meter race at the Hamilton College Golf Course in 15:04.2, with Naylon second in 15:09.5. A total of 45 runners competed. Cortland won the team crown with 31 points, edging Hamilton's 34 points. Division II Le Moyne College was third with 65 points.

Freshman Kerri Culhane (Sayville) made her Red Dragon debut with a seventh-place time of 15:41.8. Freshman Michelyn Little (Voorheesville/Clayton A. Bouton) placed 10th in 15:57.6 in her collegiate opener, while junior Dayna Eikeseth (Staten Island/Tottenville) finished 11th in 15:58.5.

Rounding out Cortland's top seven were junior Colleen Fischman (Orchard Park/Hamburg) in 13th place (16:02.0) and freshman Danika Ortiz (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) in 16th place (16:20.0).

Cortland will compete at the University of Rochester Invitational next Saturday. Rochester will also be the site of the NCAA Div. III Atlantic Regionals on Nov. 10.
