CORTLAND, N.Y. - The nationally fifth-ranked Oswego men's hockey team scored four goals in the first nine minutes of the game and went on to defeat Cortland, 5-2, in SUNYAC action Friday night at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons fell to 6-10-2 overall and 2-6-1 in the conference, while the Lakers improved to 14-3 and 8-1.

Senior Chris Ayotte (Cornwall, ON/Wellington Dukes) led Oswego with two goals. Seniors Paul Rodrigues (Etibicoke, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadiens) and Tyler Leimbrock (Bolton, ON/Oakville Blades) and sophomore Eli Kim-Swallow (Toronto, ON/St. Michael's Buzzers) netted one goal apiece. Seniors Chris Muise (Oakville, ON/Oakville Blades) and Chris Brown (Centreville, ON/Wellington Dukes) registered two assists each, and three other players chipped in with one assist. Freshman goalie Justin Gilbert (Ottawa, ON/Kingston Voyageurs) turned aside 28 shots.
The Lakers took control of the game with their four-goal outburst in a 7:34 span of the first period. Ayotte scored his first of the game at 1:09 with a wrist shot from the left side that found the upper corner. Less than three minutes later, Rodrigues scored on a rebound in front. At 5:36, Leimbrock made it a 3-0 game after he picked up a loose puck and blasted a slap shot past Rocker from the right circle. Ayotte finished the binge with a one-timer in front at 8:43, chasing Rocker from the game.
Davie tallied the only goal of the second period. Nardi sent a pass ahead to Davie at the blue line, where he skated in on a breakaway and snuck a shot through Gilbert's pads that slid over the goal line. Kim-Swallow gave Oswego back its four-goal lead at 7:03 of the third period, scoring on a one-time shot from the slot. Ryan completed the scoring with his first career goal, finishing off a long rush by Mascaro with a quick one-timer right in front at 12:16.
