Caitlin Triantafillou won the 500-meter dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:21.91
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Three Cortland competitors won events with ECAC Div. III Championship qualifying efforts as the Red Dragons competed at the Colgate Women's Indoor Track and Field Class of '32 Invitational.
The Red Dragons finished fourth at the meet with 87 points as a good portion of the team was participating at the Cortland Winter Invitational. Brockport scored 165 points, followed by Div. I Colgate (119), Div. II Bloomsburg (114) and Cortland.
Senior
Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) won the 60-meter hurdles in an ECAC time of 9.44 seconds. Senior
Caitlin Triantafillou (Getzville/Williamsville North) recorded an ECAC mark with her winning time of 1:21.91 in the 500-meter dash and junior Alexandra Budd (Riverhead) won the high jump with an ECAC height of 1.60 meters (5' 3”).
Freshman
Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) finished second behind Schafer in the 60-meter hurdles (9.77). She was also one of five Red Dragons in the top six in the high jump. After Budd's winning effort, Schafer and sophomore
Taylor Hudson (Victor) each cleared 1.55 meters (5' 1”), while Koelbel and senior Gina Hofle (Campagna) (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) each cleared 1.45 meters (4' 9”). Officially, Schafer finished second, Hudson was third, and Koelbel and Hofle tied for fifth.
Freshman
Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) and junior
Trisha Clark (Pulaski) finished third (2:24.25) and fourth (2:26.53), respectively, in the 800 meters. Hudson placed third in the 200-meter dash (27.22), with senior
Alexis Grable (Pine Bush) fifth (27.62).
Three Red Dragons scored points in the 400-meter dash. Grable finished fourth (1:01.57), sophomore
Kiersten Duroe (Horseheads) was fifth (1:02.99) and sophomore
Gabrielle Conant (Tully) placed sixth (1:03.31).
Senior
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) and freshman
Kerri Culhane (Sayville) each scored points in the mile run. Naylon finished fourth (5:19.7) and Culhane crossed the finish line fifth (5:25.34). In the 500-meter dash, Triantafillou was joined in the scoring column by senior
Liz Henry (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) in fifth place (1:24.79) and junior
Bianca-Alexis Ilarraza (New City/Clarkstown North) in sixth place (1:32.66).
Cortland will compete at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 2-3.
