EASTON, PA. – Cortland, ranked 16th nationally in Div. III and third in the Atlantic Region, finished second out of 12 teams at the Leopard Invitational men's cross country collegiate race, hosted by Lafayette College.
The Red Dragons finished with 56 points, 35 behind American University. Bucknell University placed third with 90 points, followed by Lehigh (132), TCNJ (156) and George Washington (193) in the top six.
Cortland's top seven runners all placed in the top 20 of the 143-runner field. Senior
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) finished fourth in 25 minutes, 41 seconds over a distance of 5 miles.

Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) finished sixth in 25:48, junior
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) was 13th in 26:08 and senior
Casey Austin (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) finished 15th in 26:18. Senior
Pat Fannon (West Islip) was Cortland's fifth scorer in 19th place overall (26:29).

Tim Lee (West Babylon) posted a 20th-place finish in 26:30 and junior
Arturo Salas (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) placed 21st in 26:31.
Nine other Red Dragons finished in the top half of the field. Freshman
Gabe Rodriguez (Geneseo) was 29th (26:41), freshman
Chris Landi (Merrick/Calhoun) finished 32nd (26:47) and sophmore
Joe Ray (Bayport/ Bayport-Blue Point) finished 35th (26:52). Junior
Tim Odin (North Point) turned in a 47th-place time of 27:14 and junior
Steven Pungello (Washingtonville) crossed the line 57th in 27:33.
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/ Seton Catholic) was 78th (28:03), senior
Mike Kelly (Coram/ Longwood) was 80th (28:08), senior
Brent Pavlick (Clifton Park/ Shenendehowa) was 91st (28:24), and junior
Jared Walther (Liverpool/ Cicero-North Syracuse) was 99th (28:33).
Cortland will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., for the Cornell John Reif Memorial Run on Friday, October 25.
