ITHACA, N.Y. – Six Cortland runners competed in the 5,000-meter men's race at the Cornell University John Reif Memorial Men's Cross Country Run. There was no team scoring at the event.
Senior
Mike Kelly (Coram/Longwood) finished first in a field of 24 runners in 16 minutes, 32.7 seconds. Junior
Jared Walther (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) placed third in 16:46.6, followed by freshman
Ryan Jelinek (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) in fourth at 16:47.3.
Also for the Red Dragons, freshman
Anthony Galvan (Riverhead) finished fifth (16:48.6), freshman
John Guaragno (Montgomery/Valley Central) was sixth (16:52.6) and freshman
Gary Murano (Manorville/Eastport-South Manor) finished eighth (17:07.0).
Cortland did not enter any runners into the men's 5-mile race.
The Red Dragons will compete at the SUNYAC Championships in Oneonta on Saturday, Nov. 2.
