Cody Amengual was the Red Dragons' best finisher with an 8,000-meter time of 25:33
BETHLEHEM, PA. – Cortland, ranked 15th nationally in Div. III, finished in 34th place in a field of predominantly Division I schools in the Gold Division of the Lehigh University Men's Cross Country Paul Short Run.
Of the 47 schools competing in the event's top collegiate men's race, 37 were Division I schools and four were Division II. Cortland finished with 881 points. Indiana University won with 89 points, followed by Dartmouth (106) and Georgetown (110).
Senior
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) finished 125th out of 395 runners on the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 33 seconds. Senior
Pat Fannon (West Islip) finished 148th in 25:43 and junior
Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) placed 167th in 25:50.
Junior
Joe Ray (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) recorded a 223rd place finish in 26:14 and junior
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) finished 268th in 26:31. Rounding out the Cortland top seven were senior
Casey Austin (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) in 272nd place (26:32) and junior
Arturo Salas (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) in 340th place (27:14).
The six Division III schools in the race are all ranked in the top 30 nationally. Ninth-ranked Williams finished 16th, eighth-ranked Dickinson finished 27th and third-ranked Haverford placed 30th. Allegheny, ranked 28th, finished in 33rd place and 19th-ranked Johns Hopkins finished 37th.
Cortland also had some runners compete in the Open Division race.
Gabe Rodriguez (Geneseo) finished 104th in 26:47.
Cortland will run at the St. Lawrence Hoffman Invitational next Saturday.
