CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior defenseman Stephen Nardi (Plainedge/NY Bobcats) scored two goals and added an assist to help lead the Cortland men's hockey team to a 6-1 win versus Morrisville Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons evened their record at 2-2-1 overall and in the conference, while the Mustangs fell to 1-4-1 overall and in the league.

Senior Adam Bevilacqua (Toronto, ON/St. Norbert) also collected three points for Cortland on one goal and two assists. Senior A.J. Moyer (Perkasie, PA/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) had a goal and an assist, freshman Matt Esposito (Fayetteville/Rochester Stars) scored a goal and sophomore Mike Davie (Brooklyn/NY Apple Core) netted the first goal of his career. Sophomores Brant Sherwood (Rochester/Plymouth St.) and Ryan Wagner (Buffalo/Aberdeen Wings) each collected two assists, and senior Mike Henrici (North Haven, CT/Manhattanville) and junior Nick Zappia (Manlius/Kingston Voyageurs) chipped in with one assist apiece. Senior goalie Mark Balkwill (Saskatoon, SK/Broome CC) stopped 36 shots in posting his first victory as a Red Dragon.

Freshman John Doyle (New Lowell, ON/Aurora Tigers) scored Morrisville's goal with freshman Joe Santino (Woodbridge, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadians) assisting on the score. Senior goalie Christopher Azzano (Oshawa, ON/Wentworth) registered 34 saves.

Nardi gave Cortland a 1-0 lead three minutes, 26 seconds into the game on a slap shot through traffic from the right point. Moyer made it a 2-0 game at 11:44 when he scored on a deflection in front on the power play. The Mustangs pulled to within 2-1 heading into the first intermission as Doyle one-timed a shot inside the left post off Santino's pass from the right side.

Nardi tallied the only goal of the second period at 18:31. Moments after leaving the penalty box, Nardi received a pass from Wagner that sent him on a breakaway. He beat Azzano at the right post for a short-handed score to make it a 4-1 game. The Red Dragons sealed the win with a pair of power-play goals on a major penalty. Esposito scored from the high slot through traffic at 14:06, and Davie completed the scoring with a shot from the left circle at 16:31.
