CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore
Reeve Callen (Oswego) won three events and sophomore
Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) recorded two individual wins in Cortland's 183-115 home dual-meet loss to SUNY Geneseo.
Geneseo improved to 2-1 with the win and Cortland is now 0-3.
Callen won the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.93), the 50-yard freestyle (22.24) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.22). He also anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:14.79) that also featured senior
Mark Hanifin (Fort Plain), freshman
Adam Opsahl (East Lyme, CT) and freshman
Dylan Burns (Cornwall).
Jakubek was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.88) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.56). Hanifin won the 100-yard freestyle (49.60) and finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:20.38).
Also for the Red Dragons, Opsahl was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.48) and sophomore
Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) was runner-up in both 1-meter diving (255.00 points) and 3-meter diving (268.10 points). The combination of Burns, Jakubek, Opsahl and Hanifin finished second in the opening 200-yard medley relay (1:39.56).
Cortland will host Buffalo State in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m.
