MT. MORRIS, N.Y. – The Cortland men's cross country team placed six runners in the top 30 and won the team title at the NCAA Div. III Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by SUNY Geneseo at Letchworth State Park. The Red Dragons captured their first Atlantic Regional title since back-to-back wins in 2008 and 2009.
Cortland, ranked 12th nationally, finished with 37 points to defeat sixth-ranked NYU, which placed second with 62 points. Both Cortland and NYU earned automatic bids to the NCAA Div. III Championship next week in Hanover, Ind., with their top-two finishes.
Geneseo, ranked 19th, was third with 103 points, followed by 27th-ranked St. Lawrence (118), 34th-ranked RPI (148) and 35th-ranked Rochester (242).
Junior
Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) won the individual regional title with a time of 25 minutes, 3.5 seconds over 8,000 meters. He edged NYU's Dylan Karten (25:04.4) by less than a second.
Five other Red Dragons earned all-region honors with top-35 finishes. Senior
Pat Fannon (West Islip) was fourth in 25:14.4 and senior
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) finished fifth in 25:16.1. Junior
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) and senior
Casey Austin (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) finished 13th and 14th, respectively, in 25:27.8 and 25:28.2. Senior
Tim Lee (West Babylon) turned in a 29th-place time of 25:47.8.

Arturo Salas (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), finished 45th in the 275-runner field in 26:09.0.
