CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior Mike Henrici (North Haven, CT/Manhattanville College) scored a pair of goals including an empty-net score with 25 seconds remaining to help lead the Cortland men's hockey team to a 4-2 win versus Fredonia St. Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons evened their record at 1-1 overall and in the conference, while the Blue Devils dropped to 1-1 overall and in the conference.

Senior A.J. Moyer (Perkasie, PA/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) recorded one goal and one assist for Cortland, sophomore Brant Sherwood (Rochester/Plymouth St.) scored a goal and senior Adam Bevilacqua (Toronto, ON/St. Norbert) and freshman Matt Esposito (Fayetteville/Rochester Stars) each chipped in with an assist. Senior goalie Lyle Rocker (Buffalo/Wisconsin-River Falls) registered a career-high 56 saves.

Junior Stephen Castriota (Bellport/New York Bobcats) and sophomore John DeFeo (Glen Head/NY Apple Core) netted goals for Fredonia St. Sophomores Mitch Kaufmann (Red Deer, AB/Canmore) and Ryan Wilkinson (Calgary, AB/Calgary Mustangs) and freshman Frankie Hart (Timmons, ON/Campbellton Tigers) notched one assist apiece. Freshman goalie Chris Eiserman (Newburyport, MA/Bridgton Academy) stopped 19 shots.

Cortland took a 1-0 lead just 42 seconds into the game when Sherwood one-timed a pass from Bevilacqua at the right post. Castriota tied the game at 14:31 of the first period, knocking a loose puck into an open goal on the power play. Cortland took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission after Moyer forced a turnover in the offensive zone and put in his own rebound at 18:34.

After a scoreless second period, Henrici tallied his first of the night at 6:02 of the third when he lifted a backhand into the top shelf. The Blue Devils pulled to within 3-2 at 17:04 as DeFeo put in his own rebound right in front. Henrici, however, sealed the win with 25 seconds remaining, scoring into an empty net from a sharp angle after Eiserman was pulled for an extra skater.
