Cortland Men Lose Dual Meet at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Dylan Burns (Cornwall) and sophomore Reeve Callen (Oswego) won individual events in Cortland's 208-92 men's swimming and diving dual-meet loss at Ithaca College. The Red Dragons are now 0-2 on the season.

Burns won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.23 seconds and Callen was victorious in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:01.18.

Callen also finished second in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.07) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.41). Freshman Adam Opsahl (East Lyme, CT) earned runner-up finishes in three events – the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.08), the 100-yard butterfly (56.35) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.08).

Senior Mark Hanifin (Fort Plain) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.45) and sophomore Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.50). In addition, sophomore Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) finished second in 3-meter diving (221.00 points).

Cortland will host Geneseo in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m.
