Sarah Culmo (West Islip) and junior
Michaela Auer (Oswego) each won two individual events to lead Cortland during its 177-123 women's swimming and diving dual-meet loss at Ithaca College. The Red Dragons are 0-2 on the season.
Culmo won the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.88) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.79), while Auer was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.28) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.48).
Junior
Krista Caputo (Staten Island/Curtis) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:55.52) and senior
Chrisanna Hickey (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East Fishkill) was the 100-yard butterfly winner (1:00.74). In addition, freshman
Angelica Ford (Elk Grove Village, IL), Auer, Hickey and Culmo opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay (4:05.87).
Culmo finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (54.88) and Caputo was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.15). Hickey earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.56) and Ford was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.31).
Also for the Red Dragons, senior
M.K. Dugue (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) finished second behind Culmo in the 50-yard freestyle (25.86) and sophomore
Miranda Fergus (Millbrook) was second in 1-meter diving (217.35 points).
Cortland will host Geneseo in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m.
