HANOVER, IND. – The Cortland men's cross country team finished 13th out of 32 teams at the 2013 NCAA Div. III Championships, hosted by Hanover College.
The Red Dragons, who were competing in the national field for the seventh time in eight years, posted a score of 401 points. St. Olaf won the team title with 84 points, followed by North Central with 86 points.
Junior
Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) repeated as an All-American with a 23rd-place time of 25 minutes, 10.8 seconds over 8,000 meters. A total of 275 runners competed. Marcantonio also finished 23rd at last year's championship race. The top 35 runners earn All-America recognition.
Senior
Pat Fannon (West Islip) finished 73rd in 25:44.9 and junior
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) was 105th in 25:55.9. Senior
Casey Austin (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) finished 114th (26:00.3), junior
Joe Ray (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) placed 225th (26:47.3) and senior
Tim Lee (West Babylon) was 245th (27:06.1).
Cortland finished 23rd nationally in 2012 and 20th in 2011. The Red Dragons also posted four top-five finishes from 2006-09, highlighted by winning the national title in 2008. In all, Cortland has competed in 16 NCAA men's cross country championship meets.
