CORTLAND, N.Y. - Four different players scored goals as the nationally eighth-ranked Oswego men's hockey team defeated Cortland, 4-1, Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons fell to 1-2 overall and in the conference, while the Lakers improved to 2-1 overall and in league play.

Sophomore Ryan Wagner (Buffalo/Aberdeen Wings) scored Cortland's goal. Junior Nick Zappia (Manlius/Kingston Voyageurs) assisted on the score. Senior Lyle Rocker (Buffalo/Wisconsin-River Falls) started in goal for the Red Dragons and made nine saves in 15 minutes, 11 seconds before giving way to senior Mark Balkwill (Saskatoon, SK/Broome CC), who stopped 31 shots.

Sophomores Brandon Adams (Prospect Heights, IL/Holy Cross) and Mac Scott (Richmond Hill, ON/Canisius) and freshmen Alex Botten (Newmarket, ON/Georgetown Raiders) and Dylan Smith (Big River, SK/Estevan Bruins) each netted a goal for the Lakers. Freshman Stephen Johnson (Mississauga, ON/Corwall Colts) recorded three assists, while five others chipped in with one assist apiece. Sophomore goalie Justin Gilbert (Ottawa, ON/Kingston Voyageurs) registered 22 saves.

Adams gave Oswego a 1-0 lead at 11 minutes, 54 seconds of the opening period on a snap shot into the upper corner. Wagner tied the game at 1-1 just 11 seconds into the second period. Zappia won a faceoff back to the point and Wagner beat Gilbert with a slap shot through traffic.

The Lakers then scored the game's final three goals to close out the second period. Scott scored on a slap shot at 9:30, and Smith and Botten tallied power-play goals at 15:05 and 18:37, respectively.
