Fergus 10th on Both Boards, Breaks School 1-Meter Record, at NCAA Regionals

Freshman Miranda Fergus
ITHACA, N.Y. – Cortland freshman Miranda Fergus (Pleasant Valley/Millbrook) finished in 10th place on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, including a school record in the 1-meter competition, at the two-day NCAA Div. III Northeast/South (Region 4) Women's Diving regional qualifiers.

Fergus scored 441.00 points on the 3-meter board Friday and 454.40 points on the 1-meter board Saturday. The 1-meter score breaks the school 11-dive record of 432.00 points set by Amy Jones in 2008. Fergus' finishes were not high enough to earn a trip to nationals. Those bids went to the top five finishers – the three best on 3-meter and two best on 1-meter, excluding repeat selections. A total of 15 divers competed.

The regional qualifier was one of four held over the weekend. The format is new to NCAA Div. III this season. In prior years, divers earned entry into the national meet via a film review of their best scores during the regular season.

This year's five regional qualifiers were Sarah Ficarro and Ashley Keller from Fredonia, Sabrina Lucchesi and Danica Roskos from The College of New Jersey, and Ithaca's Kloe Boeckel.
