ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cortland men's outdoor track and field team earned five event victories as it opened the season at the Ithaca College Invitational.

Junior Cody Amengual (West Babylon) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:23.71. Cortland also recorded two ECAC qualifying performances in the pole vault as sophomore Connor Ten Eyck (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) finished first at 4.65 meters (15' 3”) and senior Rob Brower (Massapequa) placed second at 4.50 meters (14' 9”).

Sophomore Tim Odin (Northport) won the 800 meters in 2:00.50, with Amengual fifth in 2:02.77.

Senior Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) won the shot put with a distance of 13.92 meters (45' 8”) and junior Tyler Prendergast (Waterford/Shenendehowa) won the discus at 41.92 meters (137' 6”). Senior Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) finished second in both events with a shot put of 13.66 meters (44' 9.75”) and a discus throw of 39.94 meters (131' 0”).

Torres placed third in the discus (39.54 meters – 129'9”) and Prendergast was fourth in the shot put (13.30 meters – 43' 7.75”). In the hammer throw, Prendergast finished fourth (44.23 meters – 145' 1”), Wilson was fifth (43.17 meters – 141' 8”) and Torres placed sixth (40.03 meters – 131' 4”).

Sophomore Woody Millar (Saratoga Springs) finished second in the javelin with a throw of 49.86 meters (163' 7”). Wilson finished sixth at 45.08 meters (147' 11”). Sophomore Zach Zieniewicz (Seaford) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.90), followed by sophomore Tom Milian (East Meadow) in fourth (16.54).

Cortland claimed three of the top four spots in the 400-meter hurdles. Sophomore Rob Schenke (Kings Park) finished second in 57.97 seconds, freshman Keewan Rondinello (Liverpool) was third in 58.12 seconds and sophomore Eric Wong (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) placed fourth in 58.82 seconds.

Also for the Red Dragons, sophomore Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) finished fifth in the 5,000 meters (15:22.61) and freshman Darrius Samples (Islandia/Hauppauge) was fifth in the 400-meter dash (53.10). Junior Anthony Diggs (Jamaica/Campus Magnet) placed fifth in the triple jump (11.52 meters – 37' 9.5”) and sophomore Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:49.23). In addition, the 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Andre Green (Philadelphia/Indian River), Schenke, Rondinello and freshman Jerel Williams (East Islip) finished third in 3:40.27.
