Stephens 12th Nationally in Triple Jump; Cortland Ties for 51st in Final Standings

La CROSSE, WIS. - Cortland senior Amber Stephens (Stony Point/North Rockland) finished in 12th place in the triple jump during the final day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day meet was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Stephens' best jump was 11.55 meters (37' 10.75"). Melissa Norville of Illinois College won the title at 12.78 meters (41' 11.25").

Cortland tied for 51st place in the final team standings with four points - the results of Sarah Bonnell's (Norwich) fifth-place finish in the long jump Thursday. Wartburg College of Iowa won the team title with 46 points. Wisconsin-Oshkosh finished second (43), with Buffalo State and Ramapo tying for third (41). In all, 77 schools scored points at the meet.
