Kerri Culhane was Cortland's second finisher with a 51st-place time of 22:57 over 6,000 meters
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – The Cortland women's cross country team, ranked ninth in the Div. III Atlantic Region, finished in sixth place at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational women's collegiate race.
The Red Dragons were one of only four Div. III teams in the nine-team field, with the other five entries Div. I schools. Penn State won the meet with 15 points, followed by Johns Hopkins with 49 and Bucknell with 94. Cortland finished with 191 points.
Senior
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) finished 29th in a field of 146 runners with a time of 22 minutes, 22 seconds over 6,000 meters. Penn State's Emily Giannotti won the race in 21:17.
Sophomore
Kerri Culhane (Sayville) placed 51st overall in 22:57 and junior
Ameena Dye (DeWitt/Jamesville-DeWitt) finished 78th in 23:35. Sophomore
Kayla Blomback (Orchard Park) crossed the finish line 80th in 23:36 and senior
Colleen Fischman (Buffalo/Hamburg) was 84th in 23:41.
Rounding out Cortland's top seven runners were sophomore
Michelyn Little (Voorheesville/Clayton A. Bouton) in 89th place (23:55) and junior
Kelly Bromm (Washingtonville) in 100th place (24:18).
Cortland will host the Jack Daniels Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21. The women's race will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11:15 a.m.
