Jack Jakubek won the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke races and swam a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore
Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) and senior
Kyle McManus (Oakdale/Connetquot) each won two individual events and Jakubek was part of a winning relay during Cortland's 177-111 loss to visiting Hartwick College in a men's swimming and diving dual meet.
Jakubek won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.27) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.21), while McManus captured both 1-meter (192.30 points) and 3-meter (188.10 points) diving.
Cortland opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:40.37). Freshman
Dylan Burns (Cornwall) swam the opening backstroke leg, followed by Jakubek in the breaststroke, sophomore
Mathew Hasbrouck (New Paltz) in the butterfly and senior
Mark Hanifin (Fort Plain) in the freestyle.
Hasbrouck won the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.73) and placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (54.04). Sophomore
Reeve Callen (Oswego) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.03) and Hanifin finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.00) and 100-yard freestyle (49.18).
The Red Dragons finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay as freshman
Adam Opsahl (East Lyme, CT), Burns, Hanifin and Callen were clocked in 3:21.87.
Cortland returns to action on Friday, Jan. 17, when it hosts New Paltz at 1 p.m.
