BUFFALO, NY. – The Buffalo St. men's hockey team scored five unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeated Cortland, 5-2, Friday night in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons fell to 4-12-2 overall and 3-6-1 in the conference, while the Bengals improved to 8-8-3 and 5-3-2.

Sophomore Mike Davie (Brooklyn/NY Apple Core) and freshman Matt Esposito (Fayetteville/Rochester Stars) netted goals for Cortland with senior Mike Henrici (North Haven, CT/Manhattanville) and sophomore Kyle Herring (Valencia, CA/Rochester Stars) each collecting an assist. Senior goalie Lyle Rocker (Buffalo/Wisconsin-River Falls) registered 21 saves.

Nick Berst led Buffalo St. with two goals. Mike Zannella tallied one goal and one assist, Kyle Whipple and Taylor Pryce each netted a goal and Brett Hope, Dan Turgeon and Jake Rosen contributed two assists apiece. Goalie Kevin Carr stopped 25 shots.

Esposito gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead just 1:33 into the game, and Davie made it a 2-0 score with a power-play goal at 8:01 of the opening period. The Bengals, however, closed the period with three goals in just over a four-minute span to grab a 3-2 advantage.

Whipple pushed the lead to 4-2 with his goal at 14:32 of the second period, and Berst sealed the win with his second of the night at 17:19 of the third for the final of 5-2.
