FREDONIA, NY. – The Cortland men's hockey team scored two third-period goals to erase a two-goal deficit and skated to a 3-3 overtime tie at Fredonia St. Saturday night in SUNYAC action.
Three defensemen tallied goals for the Red Dragons (4-12-3, 3-6-2 SUNYAC). Senior
Stephen Nardi (Plainedge/NY Bobcats) and sophomores
Kyle Herring (Valencia, CA/Rochester Stars) and
Ryan Wagner (Buffalo/Aberdeen Wings) each found the back of the net. Senior
Adam Bevilacqua (Toronto, ON/St. Norbert), junior
Jeff Vanzant (Barrie, ON/SUNY Plattsburgh) and sophomore
Brant Sherwood (Rochester/Plymouth St.) contributed one assist apiece.

Lyle Rocker (Buffalo/Wisconsin-River Falls) started in net for Cortland, making five saves in 13 minutes, 48 seconds before giving way to senior
Mark Balkwill (Saskatoon, SK/Broome C.C.), who stopped all 25 shots he faced in 51:12.
Ryan Edens, Alex Perkins and Hunter Long scored for the Blue Devils (5-9-4, 2-4-3). Matt Owczarczak recorded two assists, and four others each added one assist. Goalie Jeff Flagler registered 38 saves.
Edens and Perkins gave the Blue Devils a quick 2-0 lead with goals at 2:30 and 3:35 of the first period. Herring pulled Cortland to within 2-1 at 6:39 before Long made it a 3-1 game at 13:48.
After a scoreless second period, Wagner netted an unassisted short-handed goal at 10:45 of the third. Nardi then tied the game at 15:05 to send the game to overtime. In the extra five minutes, the Red Dragons were able to kill off a Fredonia St. power play to keep the game tied and earn the point on the road.
