ITHACA, N.Y. – Four Cortland runners finished in the top 12, led by freshman
Aaron Granger's (Delevan/Pioneer) ninth-place showing, at the Cornell University John Reif Memorial Run. The race was hosted at the Moakley Course at Cornell's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
Cortland entered runners only in the 5,000-meter men's race and did not compete in the 5-mile event. Granger placed ninth out of 37 runners in 18 minutes, three seconds, with sophomore teammate
Nate Wicks (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) in 10th place in 18:17. Freshman
Richard Taylor (Westbury) finished 11th (18:36) and junior
Chris O'Neill (Schoharie) placed 12th (18:45).
Rounding out the Red Dragons' top seven runners were junior
Joey Moschitto (Briarcliff) in 19th place (19:42), junior
Kyle Howe (Scipio Center/Southern Cayuga) in 21st place (20:18) and senior
Eric Wong (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) in 22nd place (20:27).
Cortland, ranked 35th nationally in Div. III and fifth in the Atlantic Region, will compete at the SUNYAC Championships next Saturday, Nov. 1, at Brockport. The men's race will start at 11 a.m., followed by the women's race at noon. Cortland is the defending SUNYAC champion.
