Jack Jakubek earned victories in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke races
GENESEO, N.Y. –
Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won two individual events to highlight Cortland's performances in a 177-115 dual-meet loss at Geneseo. Jakubek won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.57) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.49).
Reeve Callen (Oswego) captured the 100-yard freestyle in 48.99, out-touching Geneseo's top finisher by just a hundredth of a second.
Cortland also won the 400-yard freestyle relay as
Dylan Burns (Cornwall),
Mark Hanifin (Fort Plain), Callen and
Luke Strothenke (New Paltz) posted a time of 3:14.37.
Callen finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.57), Strothenke was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.91) and Hanifin was runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.47). Burns, Jakubek,
Brandon McManus (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) and Callen lost by two tenths of a second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.25).
In addition, McManus was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:28.00),
Brendin Thompson (Pine Bush) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.46) and senior
Alex Spatzer (Buffalo/Kenmore West) placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (2:03.82).
Cortland (0-3) will compete in a dual meet at Buffalo State on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m.
