Nick Zappia scored Cortland's first goal and assisted on the goal that tied the game at 3-3 early in the third period
OSWEGO, N.Y. – Cortland rallied from a 3-0 first-period deficit to tie the game before nationally third-ranked Oswego scored the next three goals on the way to a 6-4 win over the visiting Red Dragons. Oswego improved to 3-0 and Cortland fell to 0-2-1, both overall and in SUNYAC play.
Oswego's Shawn Hulshof, Alex Botten, Kenny Neil and Matt Galati each finished with a goal and two assists, while Mike Montagna and Andrew Barton scored once apiece. Laker goalie Mackenzie Sawyer made 20 saves.

Oswego finished 3-for-7 on power-play opportunities, with two of those goals coming in the first period as the Lakers took their 3-0 lead. Neil scored with the Lakers up a skater just 1:56 into the game. Barton netted an even-strength goal 33 seconds later, and Hulshof found the net on a power play with 7:21 left in the period.
Cortland swung the momentum into its favor in the second period with the lone two goals of the stanza. Zappia poked in a rebound 5:23 into the period, with freshman
Drazen Zack (East Greenbush/Connecticut Oilers) and McCormick earning assists. Nolan netted his third goal in as many games at the 15:28 mark when he knocked in a loose puck near the cage. McCann and McCormick were credited with assists on the play.
The Red Dragons tied the game 2:23 into the third period on a shot by Broderick from the right faceoff circle, set up by McCormick and Zappia, for Broderick's third goal of the year. The Lakers, however, responded just over a minute later on a Montagna breakaway goal to regain the lead. Oswego added a power play tally by Galati at the 8:25 mark and a Botten goal with 4:36 remaining. Michael Markowitz (Staten Island/NY Bobcats) and McCormick.
Cortland returns to action with a two-game SUNYAC series at Morrisville on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14-15. Both games start at 7 p.m.
