ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cortland women's indoor track and field team opened its season with six ECAC-qualifying efforts at the non-team scoring Cornell University Greg Page Relays.
Senior
Taylor Hudson (Victor) turned in two of those performances with her win in the long at 5.56 meters ( 18' 3") and a seventh-place height of 1.60 meters (5' 3") in the high jump. Cortland also had two entrants in the 60-meter hurdles reach ECAC standards as junior
Angelique Jean-Charles (Elmont/Valley Stream) finished fifth (9.33) and junior
Kenya Outram (Brooklyn/Victory Collegiate) placed ninth (9.40).
Other Cortland ECAC qualifiers were sophomore
Dana Kupiec (Salem) in the 60-meter dash with a 10th-place finish out of 69 sprinters in 7.92 seconds and freshman
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) with a 10th-place time of 1:21.99 in the 500 meters.
Kupiec finished ninth of 82 in the 300 meters in 42.41 seconds, followed by sophomore
Midge Moore (Massapequa) in 14th (42.80) and freshman
Sydney Chaffee (Norwich) in 16th (42.90). Moore also finished 16th in the 60-meter dash in 8.11 seconds.
Senior
Susan Lopez (Syracuse/Westhill) finished ninth in the 5,000 meters (20:11.64) and freshman
Brenda Perrella (Hamburg/Frontier) was 11th in the weight throw (13.44 meters – 44' 1.25"). In the pole vault, juniors
Alex Seymour (Dryden) and
Jane Martinez (Latham/East Lyme (CT)) each cleared 3.15 meters (10' 4"). Seymour finished ninth and Martinez was 10th based on number of misses. Junior
Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) was Cortland's top finisher in the pentathlon with a seventh-place score of 2,891 points.
Cortland returns to action on Friday, January 9, at the Cornell Southern Tier Open.
