Mark Hanifin won the 1,000-yard freestyle and swam a leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay
ONEONTA, N.Y. – Sophomore
Reeve Callen (Oswego) set a pool record in the 500-yard freestyle during Cortland's 134-104 dual-meet loss at Oneonta. Callen won the race in 4:54.62 to break a G. Hal Chase Pool record that was set in 2003. Callen also won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.15.
Freshman
Dylan Burns (Cornwall) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.68) and finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (56.21). Senior
Mark Hanifin (Fort Plain) captured the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:18.32) and sophomore
Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.45).
Cortland also won the final event of the meet, the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the combination of sophomore
Mathew Hasbrouck (New Paltz), sophomore
Chris Leary (Suffern), Hanifin and Callen finished in 1:30.91.
Also for the Red Dragons, freshman
Adam Opsahl (East Lyme, CT) was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.11) and Hasbrouck placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (54.08). Burns, Jakubek,Opsahl and senior
Matt Latorre (Bethlehem) finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.15).
Cortland (6-8) will complete the dual-meet portion of its schedule next Saturday at Fredonia at 1 p.m.
