ITHACA, N.Y. – Cortland junior Glen Forsythe (Uniondale) tied a 25-year-old school record in the long jump and freshman Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) broke his own school record in the heptathlon during the two-day Ithaca College Bomber Invitational and Multi-Event men's indoor track and field meet.

Forsythe finished first out of 39 competitors with his long jump of 7.19 meters (23' 7.25"). He tied the school record set by Paul LaBerge in 1989 and currently ranks second nationally in Div. III. Christopherson finished fifth in the heptathlon with a score of 4,315 points, eclipsing the 4,288 points he scored earlier this season.

Cortland finished the meet with 14 ECAC-qualifying performances. Senior Melique Garcia (Watervliet) won the 200-meter dash in a field of 73 entrants in 22.28 seconds, which ranks him 11th nationally. Sophomore Jerel Williams (East Islip) finished seventh (22.91) and sophomore Keewan Rondinello (Liverpool) was eighth (22.92), both with ECAC times.

Junior Connor Ten Eyck (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) beat 28 other competitors to win the pole vault with an ECAC height of 4.70 meters (15' 5") that ranks him 11th nationally. Senior Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) and junior Steven Pungello (Washingtonville) finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000 meters with ECAC times. Hopkins finished in 8:43.05 and Pungello in 8:45.24.

Forsythe was one of three Red Dragons with ECAC-qualifying long jumps. Junior Jon Granger (Ticonderoga) finished second at 6.95 meters (22' 9.75") and freshman Mike Cruz (West Haverstraw/North Rockland) placed sixth at 6.77 meters (22' 2.5"). In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Nick Avossa (Kingston) was fifth of 30 with a time of 8.43 seconds in the finals, with junior Zach Zieniewicz (Seaford) sixth in 8.58 seconds. Both are ECAC qualifiers.

The Red Dragons also recorded three relay times that met ECAC standards. The combination of Rondinello, freshman Kenenna Emekekwue (Elmont/Sewanhaka), Williams and Garcia won the 4x200-meter relay in 1:30.72. In the 4x400-meter relay, Rondinello, freshman Bailey Imbo (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point), sophomore Evan Greenberg (Suffern) and Williams finished third in 3:27.52, while junior Rob Schenke (Kings Park), freshman Nate Wicks (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker), freshman Charlie Beeler (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) and junior Eric Wong (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) placed sixth in 3:30.84.

Other Red Dragon highlights included a win by junior Joe Ray (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) in the 5,000-meter run (15:54.58) and a sixth-place effort by Imbo in the 400-meter dash (52.18).

Cortland will compete at the Cornell Deneault Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m.
