SALISBURY, MD. – Salisbury scored four runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to break open a tight game and the nationally 13th-ranked Sea Gulls defeated 10th-ranked Cortland, 12-5. The teams will play again Sunday in Salisbury at noon.
Dan Fein tossed seven innings for Salisbury (3-0) to earn his second victory of the season. He allowed seven hits, two walks and three runs. Bobby Sanzone finished 3-for-4 with two runs, Kyle Hayman went 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored and Pete Grasso was 2-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and four runs scored. Quinn Griffith and Austin Barefoot also added two hits apiece for the Sea Gulls, while Jordan Gowe and Ken O'Neill drove in two runs each.
Brandon Serio (Bedford Hills/Fox Lane) pitched three and two-third innings for Cortland and suffered the loss. He gave up five hits and four runs, two earned. He struck out one and walked none.

Mark DeMilio (Valhalla) and sophomore
Conrad Ziemendorf (Penfield/Webster Schroeder) each hit solo homers for Cortland. DeMilio finished 2-for-3 and
Adam Smith (Vestal) was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.
Cortland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Smith led off with a double and eventually scored on a
Max Rosing (Rockville Centre/South Side) groundout. Gowe's two-run double in the bottom of the frame, however, put Salisbury up 2-1. The Sea Gulls added a run in the third on a passed ball and another in the fourth on a double-play grounder.
DeMilio led off the fifth with a homer and Ziemendorf hit a round-tripper with one out in the sixth to pull Cortland within 4-3. Salisbury answered by sending 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth. One run scored on a wild pitch, another on a Barefoot RBI single, and two more on a two-out error and an O'Neill bases-loaded walk.
Salisbury increased its lead to 12-3 with four in the seventh. Grasso drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by a balk that brought in a run and a Griffith RBI single. O'Neill's sacrifice fly concluded the scoring.
Cortland (2-1) scored twice in the top of the ninth.
Nick Hart (Fredonia) singled and scored on a
Bryan Marotta (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) RBI double. Marotta scored on a two-out error.
