Garcia, Rondinello Among ECAC Qualifiers at Boston Univ. Valentine Invitational

Eric Wong qualified for ECACs in the 400-meter dash with his time of 50.91 seconds
BOSTON, MASS. – Cortland recorded 10 ECAC-qualifying results, including two each by senior Melique Garcia (Watervliet) and sophomore Keewan Rondinello (Liverpool), at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The meet featured hundreds of athletes from a variety of Div. I, II and III schools.

Garcia finished 12th of 117 sprinters in the 60-meter dash in 7.02 seconds and 21st of 232 in the 200-meter dash in 21.95 seconds. His 200-meter effort ranks seventh nationally in Div. III. Rondinello was 37th in the 200-meter dash (22.31) and 62nd of 195 in the 400-meter dash (50.17).

Senior Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished 28th of 84 in the 5,000 meters in 14:41.02, which ranks him 13th nationally in Div. III.

Junior Eric Wong (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) finished 91st in the 400 meters (50.91) and freshman Bailey Imbo (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) was 102nd of 233 in the 800 meters (1:57.87). Freshman Chris Landi (Merrick/Calhoun) ended 105th of 301 in the mile run in 4:17.83.

Two Cortland 4x400-meter relay teams met ECAC qualifying times. Rondinello, Wong, Imbo and sophomore Jerel Williams (East Islip) were 18th of 51 in 3:22.09. Freshman Nate Wicks (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker), junior Rob Schenke (Kings Park), freshman Peter Richardson (Syracuse/West Genesee) and sophomore Evan Greenberg (Suffern) finished 29th in 3:24.66.
