Glen Forsythe finished eighth in the long jump to earn All-America honors and will compete in the triple jump Saturday
LINCOLN, NEB. - Cortland junior
Glen Forsythe (Uniondale) earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the long jump during Day 1 of the NCAA Div. III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event is being held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is being hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Forsythe's best long jump was 6.96 meters (22' 10"), just under seven inches better than the ninth-place finisher. Dominique Neloms of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the event at 7.35 meters (24' 1.5"). The top eight finishers earn All-America honors in each event. There were 15 long jumpers competing.

Melique Garcia (Watervliet) qualified for the finals in the 200-meter dash with his fifth-place time of 21.71 seconds. He is one of eight sprinters who will compete in the finals Saturday at 4:05 p.m. and placing in the top eight will earn All-America honors.
Garcia just missed advancing to the 60-meter dash finals. Garcia and Baldwin-Wallace's Kevin Johnson each finished in 6.86 seconds for the eighth spot. The tie was broken by going to thousandths of a second - Johnson was officially timed at 6.853 seconds and Garcia at 6.857 seconds.
In addition to Garcia competing in the 200-meter finals Saturday, Forsythe will be part of the triple jump finals at 1:30 p.m. All event times listed above are Central Time.
