ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The nationally second-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team opened up SUNYAC play with a 15-6 win against ninth-ranked Geneseo Friday afternoon at Monroe Community College. With the victory, sixth-year head coach Kathy Taylor earned her 100th career win, raising her all-time record to 100-16. Taylor becomes just the third coach in program history to reach the milestone, joining

Tara Monaghan (Stony Point/North Rockland) led six Cortland (7-0, 1-0 SUNYAC) scorers with four goals. Sophomore

Taylor Reh (Miller Place) and junior
Emma Hayes-Hurley (Huntington) each tallied three goals. Senior

Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) netted one goal apiece, freshman
Kristen Ohberg (Brewster) contributed a career-best four assists and sophomore
Erica Geremia (Camillus/West Genesee) added one assist.

Liz Ingalls (Centerport/St. Anthony's) stopped seven shots in 53 minutes, 33 seconds before giving way to freshman
Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh), who allowed one goal over the final 6:27. Farrell and senior
Jessica Lavelle (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) each collected three round balls, Hayes-Hurley won six draw controls and Reh caused a game-high five turnovers. Monaghan and Gentile also recorded four draws apiece for the Red Dragons.
Caroline Buonocore paced the Geneseo (6-1, 0-1 SUNYAC) offense with four goals. Emily Haggerty and Liz Felix each tallied a goal, and Meredith Weber assisted on two scores. Goalie Laura Passamonte registered 11 saves and collected four ground balls. Bridget McGovern also recorded four ground balls, Buonocore had three draws and Bridget Lincoln caused three turnovers.
Buonocore gave Geneseo an early 1-0 lead with her first of the game at 26:16. Gentile followed with back-to-back free-position goals then assisted Reh's score at 22:16 to give Cortland a 3-1 lead. After Buonocore cut the lead to 3-2 at 18:59, the Red Dragons closed the half with a four-goal run for a 7-2 advantage at the break. Reh and Gentile each scored from the free position, Hayes-Hurley netted her first of the game and Monaghan buried a free-position goal with 1.5 seconds on the clock.
Cortland took control of the game by tallying the first five goals in the opening 8:05 of the second half for a 12-2 lead. Monaghan scored twice, and Farrell, Reh and Robinson each netted a goal. Buonocore and Felix scored back-to-back goals to end the run and make it a 12-4 game. The teams then traded the next four goals for a 14-6 score with 4:01 remaining before Hayes-Hurley finished the scoring off Ohberg's fourth assist of the game with 31 seconds on the clock.
