WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Junior Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to highlight Cortland's efforts at the Monmouth University Season Opener men's outdoor track and field meet.

Iacovelli finished the race in an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:35.74. Freshman Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) placed sixth in the race in 9:48.44.

Other top-eight finishes for Cortland were junior Nick Avossa (Kingston) with a fifth-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles (16.03) and senior Melique Garcia (Watervliet) with a seventh-place time of 11.61 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Cortland also finished sixth in the 4x100-meter relay in 44.16 seconds.
